Subject: Announcing Atrium Latin Castor and Atrium Latin Pollux

[prescript: I'm still semi-swamped with an unusually busy start to the
school year, so I haven't had a chance to set up everything on a blog yet
.. it will come in the next week or so]

Hic incipit feliciter another couple of sections of Atrium Latin, using
Wheelock's Latin Grammar, Sixth Revised Edition (although the Sixth Edition
can also be used for the most part). This notice announces two groups:
Atrium Latin Castor and Atrium Latin Pollux. Both courses will begin at the
same time for the first two lessons, with Atrium Latin Castor proceeding at
a chapter-a-week pace and Atrium Latin Pollux proceeding at a
chapter-every-two-weeks (or half-a-chapter-a-week) pace.

I. If you are interested in joining the group, please begin by going to the
general info page for Atrium Latin:

http://www.atrium-media.com/latin/atriumlatin.htm

Please read through that page, along with the other links on the page, to
find out how everything works. If you're wondering about textbooks and where
to send things, visit:

http://www.atrium-media.com/atriumlatin/gettingstarted.html

It is also important to know how to format your answers, described in
painful detail at:

http://www.atrium-media.com/atriumlatin/gettingstarted.html

The easiest way to deal with the formatting, however, is to simply use the
template which you will find at the end of this missive (cut and paste it
into your email program and change the initials; please don't send your
answers as an attachment!).

II. It is also to be stressed that if you do not subscribe to the LatinStudy
list, you will not see the collations and will fill my box with queries
about not getting them, which I will eventually ignore. Semi-related to
this, you should also make any adjustments to an spam filters you have as
are necessary to get mail from both me and the LatinStudy list. (It sounds
harsh, but is, alas, based on experiences I've had with previous courses).

III. As previously mentioned, the Castor course will proceed at a
chapter-a-week. The schedule for the Castor course will be posted (when I
overcome my server difficulties) at:

http://www.atrium-media.com/atriumlatin/castor.html

The Pollux course will proceed at a chapter-every-two-weeks. The schedule for
the Pollux course will be posted (when I overcome my server difficulties) at:

http://www.atrium-media.com/atriumlatin/pollux.html

The due date for the first assignment is due Saturday October 3rd; on the
evening of October 4th I'll send out the collation of everyone's answers and
the link template for the next assignment. The webpages for the first
assignment at:

http://www.atrium-media.com/latin/wk01.htm

IV. The first assignment itself is:

Chapter 1 pp. 6-7: Sententiae 1-15

Here is the important stuff for the first assignment ... please cut and
paste this as the subject line for the assignment you email to me (not to
the LatinStudy list!):

Atrium Latin Castor: Week 1

or

Atrium Latin Pollux: Week 1

depending on the pace you anticipate at this point being able to maintain
(don't worry, you'll always be able to change if you don't find it suits
you; I just like to have a rough idea of how many I'll have in each
section). The 'split' between the groups begins in week three. My address,
in case it doesn't appear in your email program, is:

atriumlatin at gmail dot com

This is the template itself; cut and paste it into your mail program (don't
forget to adjust the initials ZZZ to the initials you intend to identify
yourself by.<< this is extremely important):
