Unicorn FAQ

How do I send Greek or Hebrew email in UTF-8 format?

The easiest way is to copy and paste from Unicorn into your email program.  You should try sending a copy to yourself the first time, to ensure that everything is working.  If you can't read it, chances are your recipients can't either.

Note that your email software must be able to handle Unicode or UTF-8 text.  Eudora is notable for its totally inability to handle Unicode.

You can also configure Unicorn to send email.

Why do I get squares for vowels when I copy Greek to my email?

If you are using Internet Explorer to read your web-based email, be aware that Explorer has issues with Unicode.  Another possibility is that you are using an older Unicode font that does not support polytonic (ancient) Greek.  Change to a font that supports polytonic Unicode.

Why can't I get any diacritical marks to appear?

Certain spyware programs on Windows may interfere with Unicorn's keyboard mappings, especially those involving diacritical marks.  If everything works except for adding diacritical marks, check your system for spyware.
